How exciting these last few days to see bald eagles, wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, rough-legged hawks, and ring-necked pheasants out exploring our snowy northeast Iowa landscape. But it’s sobering to realize that the critters are so visible in part because the snow and ice and forced them to forage for food far from their usual cover. Wildlife could use a thaw!

Let me be the first to congratualte you on your web presence and admire your nice image of the eagle trying to survive in this weather. Let’s hope we can soon be complaining about all the mud!

Very well done, with outstanding photographs. Your recap of Michael Pollan’s talk was thought provoking, and your photographs on the Nebraska’s Platte River valley makes me want to attempt braving the cold and see the spectacle for myself. We have cranes here in Florida, but not in the numbers seen in Nebraska.
